Terms of Service

Please read these terms carefully before using our services

1. Agreement to Terms

By accessing our website at directcrews.com or using DirectCrews's roofing services, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service and all applicable laws and regulations. If you do not agree with any of these terms, you are prohibited from using our services.

These Terms of Service apply to all visitors, users, and customers of DirectCrews services.

2. Services Overview

DirectCrews provides a platform connecting homeowners with verified roofing installation crews. Our services include:

  • Instant roof measurement and pricing via satellite technology
  • Material selection and ordering coordination
  • Matching homeowners with vetted installation crews
  • Project coordination and quality oversight
  • Escrow payment protection
  • Workmanship warranty administration

DirectCrews acts as a coordinator between homeowners and independent installation crews. We are not a roofing contractor and do not directly employ the crews performing installation work.

3. Quotes and Pricing

3.1 Quote Accuracy

Online quotes are estimates based on satellite roof measurements and standard conditions. Final pricing may vary based on:

  • On-site inspection findings
  • Roof condition and complexity not visible via satellite
  • Required code upgrades or permits
  • Wood rot or structural repairs discovered during installation
  • Additional layers requiring tear-off

3.2 Price Lock Guarantee

Once a quote is confirmed after on-site inspection, the price is locked for 30 days. Price adjustments after this period may occur due to material cost changes.

Important: All quotes are valid for 30 days from the date of issue unless otherwise stated.

4. Payment Terms

4.1 Deposit

A 50% deposit is required after the on-site inspection to secure your installation date and order materials. The deposit is held in escrow and is only released when materials are ordered.

4.2 Final Payment

The remaining 50% balance is due upon completion of the installation. Payment is held in escrow and released only after you approve the completed work.

4.3 Escrow Protection

All payments are processed through our secure escrow system. Your funds are protected and only released when project milestones are met:

  • Deposit released when materials are ordered
  • Final payment released upon customer approval of completed work

4.4 Accepted Payment Methods

We accept major credit cards, debit cards, ACH bank transfers, and financing options (subject to credit approval).

5. Cancellation Policy

5.1 Customer Cancellation

  • Before materials ordered: Full deposit refund
  • After materials ordered but before installation: Deposit less material restocking fees (typically 15-25%)
  • Within 48 hours of scheduled installation: Subject to cancellation fee up to 25% of project total

5.2 DirectCrews Cancellation

DirectCrews reserves the right to cancel a project if:

  • Safety hazards are discovered that cannot be reasonably addressed
  • Customer fails to meet property preparation requirements
  • Fraudulent information was provided
  • Force majeure events prevent service delivery

In such cases, customers will receive a full refund of any payments made.

6. Customer Responsibilities

By booking a roofing project, you agree to:

  • Provide accurate property and contact information
  • Ensure clear access to the property on installation day
  • Remove vehicles from driveway and immediate work area
  • Secure pets inside during installation
  • Remove or protect items in the attic that may be affected by debris
  • Ensure someone 18+ is available for project start and completion sign-off
  • Notify DirectCrews of any known property issues (HOA restrictions, easements, etc.)

7. Warranty

7.1 Workmanship Warranty

DirectCrews provides a 5-year workmanship warranty covering defects in installation. This warranty includes:

  • Leaks caused by improper installation
  • Shingle blow-offs due to improper nailing
  • Flashing failures
  • Ventilation system defects

7.2 Manufacturer Warranty

Roofing materials carry separate manufacturer warranties (typically 25-50 years depending on product). DirectCrews will assist in filing manufacturer warranty claims when applicable.

7.3 Warranty Exclusions

Warranties do not cover:

  • Damage from severe weather events (hurricanes, tornadoes, hail)
  • Damage from falling trees or debris
  • Issues caused by improper attic ventilation not addressed during installation
  • Damage from unauthorized repairs or modifications
  • Normal wear and tear
  • Pre-existing structural issues not disclosed prior to installation

8. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law:

  • DirectCrews's total liability for any claim arising from services shall not exceed the amount paid for the specific project
  • DirectCrews is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages
  • DirectCrews is not liable for delays caused by weather, material shortages, or circumstances beyond our reasonable control

Some jurisdictions do not allow limitation of liability for certain damages. In such cases, limitations apply to the fullest extent permitted by law.

9. Independent Contractors

Installation crews working through DirectCrews are independent contractors, not employees of DirectCrews. While we vet all crews for licensing, insurance, and quality standards, DirectCrews is not responsible for the acts or omissions of independent contractors beyond our warranty obligations.

All crews must maintain:

  • Valid state contractor licenses
  • General liability insurance (minimum $2M)
  • Workers' compensation coverage

10. Permits and Code Compliance

DirectCrews coordinates permit applications where required by local jurisdiction. Customers are responsible for:

  • Permit fees (included in quote unless otherwise noted)
  • Providing access for required inspections
  • Any code-required upgrades identified during inspection

If code upgrades are required beyond the original scope, DirectCrews will provide a change order with revised pricing before proceeding.

11. Intellectual Property

All content on directcrews.com, including text, graphics, logos, images, and software, is the property of DirectCrews and protected by copyright and trademark laws. You may not reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works without express written permission.

12. Dispute Resolution

12.1 Informal Resolution

We encourage customers to contact us directly to resolve any disputes. Most issues can be resolved through direct communication with our team.

12.2 Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by the laws of the State of New Jersey, without regard to conflict of law principles.

12.3 Arbitration

Any disputes that cannot be resolved informally shall be resolved through binding arbitration in accordance with the rules of the American Arbitration Association. Small claims court actions are exempt from this arbitration requirement.

13. Changes to Terms

DirectCrews reserves the right to modify these Terms of Service at any time. Changes become effective immediately upon posting to our website. Continued use of our services after changes constitutes acceptance of modified terms.

For active projects, the terms in effect at the time of booking will apply.

14. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue in full force and effect.
